C. Thomas Howell was born December 7, 1966 in Van Nuys, California. The son of stuntman Chris Howell, C. Thomas, the C. stands for Christopher, originally was interested in joining the rodeo circuit. He was named All-Around Cowboy by the California Junior Rodeo Association from 1978 to 1980 and was a junior rodeo circuit champion.. His dream of joining the rodeo as a career changed when had a part in E.T. The Extraterrestrial. He gained acclaim for his performance in Francis Ford Coppola's The Outsiders (1983). Bigger roles followed. He has appeared in several films/ Formerly married to Rae Dawn Chong, with whom he starred in Soul Man and Far Out Man (1990), a Chong family project. He has a daughter from another relationship and C. Thomas is an owner and producer of Buckwheat Films.
