Patrick Swayze was born August 18, 1954 in Houston, Texas. Patrick entered the dance world at young age, following the influence of his mother , Patsy Swayze, who was a choreographer. He attended theHarkness Ballet School, the Joffrey Ballet School, and San Jacinto College. He first performed as a dancer in Disney on Parade. He later moved to Broadway, performing in Grease. He made his film debut as Ace in "Skatetown, USA". In the 80s, he worked in several television and film roles. He received a Golden Globe nomination for his role as the dance instructor Johnny Castle in themusical-drama "Dirty Dancing". He received a second nomination for his portrayal of the ghost Sam Wheat in the box office smash "Ghost" . He has been a solidly established box office star throughout the nineties, starring various roles throughout his career.
