Ryan O’neal was born Aprril 20, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. O’Neal is He is the son of actress Patricia O'Callaghan. He began his career as a stand-in and stunt man. His first acting job was in the German series, "Vikings, " in 1959. He was a Golden Gloves boxer in the years 1956-1957. He gained fame as one of the stars of TV's prime-time soap opera "Peyton Place" (1964-69), then boosted his stock with an Oscar-nominated performance in Love Story (1970). Nothing he's done since has equaled that success. He acted with his daughter Tatum O’Neal in 1973’s Paper Moon and was in Stanley Kubrick's meticulous period piece Barry Lyndon . His career has had more downs than ups, but he proved he'd lost none of his skill as a light comedian in 1981's So Fine, 1984's Irreconcilable Differences and 1989's Chances Are. In 1992 he costarred with Katharine Hepburn in The Man Upstairs He is formerly married to actresses Joanna Moore and Leigh TaylorYoung, O'Neal has lived with Farrah Fawcett for many years.
